GLK Student Fund was more than excited to welcome GLK Trustee, Judith Bukambu and her husband Solomon to New York City in November. It was a first time visit for Solomon, but Judith was happy to meet up with friends and acquaintances from a prior visit to New York. Gayle was particularly happy to have her friends with her for almost a week.
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church graciously helped host a “Meet and Greet” evening on November 13th. Judith shared stories and information of Tanzania and the GLK scholarship students with a great group of both long-time friends, recent acquaintances, and GLK sponsors, many of whom had traveled long distances in difficult weather to be there.
The Bukambus also enjoyed a visit to the UN, the St. Luke’s Benefit show and dinner, and a performance of “The Lion King”. Gayle and Judith spent many hours discussing GLK students and working on future plans.
Thank you to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and Pastor Paul Schmiege for their part in helping host the Bukambus and for their dedicated support to the GLK Student Fund, Kibeta English Medium Primary School (Bukoba), and education in Tanzania.
